Snowflake

Peerless falling snowflake, Effervescent diamond tear; A fleeting glimpse of beauty, Then you fade and disappear.

Icy apparition, Fragile evanescent ghost; You’re the vision in the gloaming That my spirit yearns for most.

You vanish in your glory; There’s no time for growing old. You’re the momentary sparkle In the all-consuming cold.

You’re a crystal of perfection In the pallid winter sky. You can melt, but your magic In my heart will never die.
