So Scotland Yard wants lots more guns
Put into the hands of dibble;
And what with the threat of jihadists,
Well, who are we to quibble?
They’re saying we need more armed police
While Islamist fiends persist;
But smarts, not weapons, are surely the way
To take out the terrorist.
These militants work in streamlined crews
So as not arouse suspicion.
So, really, how many armed cops does it take
To counter and thwart each ‘mission’?
You only need counter with bullets and brawn
If you’re too late to intercept;
You might make the hardline contingent feel safe
But its blundering, wild and inept.
If we furnish the fuzz with firearms galore
We’ll only be asking for strife;
We’ll be just like the Yanks if we give in to fear
And we arm every man and his wife.
The terrorists win if we change our ways
And we pack all our porkers with handguns;
If nearly five thousand armed Bill aren’t enough,
Then it’s not more we need, but more good ones.
For safety and peace of mind on the streets
More coppers with shooters sounds barmy;
Have them focus on intel and good strategies
And then, if in doubt, call in the army.
